Usage Of Asbestos Cause Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma, Laryngeal Cancer And Ovarian Cancer
Posted on April 14th, 2009 More Than 14 DaysLatest studies by International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) have reassured that usage of commercial asbestos that contains poisonous minerals can cause lung cancer and mesothelioma. The institutions also confirmed that laryngeal cancer and ovarian cancer are also consequences of these noxious minerals through exposure to asbestos in our daily life. Retired Assistant Surgeon General, Dr. Richard Lemen describes these confirmations as a radical movement in the prevention of asbestos related cancers.
Organizations like the IARC are working on these projects to find out such statements and accordingly working for the precautionary measures. The research has stated that all types of asbestos including the most common form known as chrysotile leads to lung cancer, laryngeal cancer, ovarian cancer and mesothelioma. New proof that confirms asbestos can cause ovarian cancer has put all the women category exposed to the material in danger.
Mesothelioma is a dreaded cancer cause by exposure to asbestos. The disease is rare in people under age 55. Three out of four of people with mesothelioma are over 65 years old. Mesothelioma symptoms may take places 20 to 50 year after exposure to asbestos, which often enters the advanced stages of the cancer. Every year 2000 to 3000 people in United States are diagnosed with Mesothelioma.
This crucial stage of the disease has brought an independent volunteer organization into action to conduct the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization or ADAO. The organization shows their appreciation over the research by IARC and are happy to know the facts through them. The knowledge about the study of asbestos dangers should be widely spread to eradicate the consequences of this disease. This will help the country and its citizens to fight against the deadly and noxious minerals in asbestos and some day try to eradicate it from the society. The fifth annual Asbestos Awareness Conference was held in Manhattan Beach in California from 27-29 March. Through the conference, ADAO has been educating asbestos victims and public about the danger of this poisonous material.

My father was a roofer and dock worker in NY. in the 40’s he died in 1955 of lung cancer and didn’t smoke. There are probably no records left to find out what kind, but I bet it had to do with asbestos. My mother was left with a 5 month old, 1 1/2 yr old and 3 yr old. Everyone diagnosed now has a chance to sue. My mother was left with nothing except 3 fatherless children.
