Cancer Breakthrough: Killing Gut Stem Cells Bring New Hope To Bowel Cancer Treatment
Posted on April 20th, 2009 More Than 14 DaysA breakthrough that has the ability to detect and eventually treat bowel cancer even on its earliest stage had been discovered by scientists. Researchers found out, and believed that rogue stem cells found in the intestines that causes cancer can be eliminated, and thus stopping the development of tumors.
According to Professor Malcolm Alison of Barts and the London School of Medicine, stem cells are line inside the gut that repairs and replaced tissues worn out on every digestion process. An unknown reason causes the stem cells to transform and produce cancer cells. However, it can be prevented and easily treated through early detection. Professor Malcolm further explained that it is possible to detect and destroy these abnormal stem cells by encouraging a self-destructing process that will eventually result into killing the source of cancer.
Chemotherapy does undoubtedly works in treating cancer by damaging the fast dividing cancer cells but could possibly not be able to detect abnormal stem cells, thus the tumor will still regrow. However, killing the cancer stem cell will eliminate the tumor forever.
Drugs trial that will do the job will soon be available in three years time. Everyday there are about one hundred people in the UK being diagnosed with bowel cancer, more than 50% of them will not survive. Former “Charlie’s Angels” actress Farrah Fawcett are among those diagnosed with the disease.

My fear that the big business of cancer, will surpress any cancer cures, because, it’s all about money. If a cure/pill was found, it would immediately shut down half the hospitals, but even more importantly the very powerful drug companies, who want you sick, so they can sell, sell, sell. Half of all TV commercials are about making you think you need their drugs, so you rush to your doctor and telling him what you need, when it should be the other way around. Doctors should all be nutrictionist instead of drug salesman. Cures may already be in some companies safe.

Fantastic news: Father has colostomy due to colon cancer removal, sister treated for Colon CA, cousin died of Colon Ca, another cousin was diagnosed and Ca was removed, and another uncle is in the last stages of his fight with colon Ca. I had a precancerous poly removed while in my early 40’s and now do a colonoscopy every 2 yrs.
